Every April 28, the spotlight falls on a reality that brooks no compromise: work should not jeopardize people\u2019s health. The International Day for Safety and Health at Work is, above all, a collective reminder. But in 2026, in Spain, it is also a strategic opportunity. <\/p>

This year is not just another year. It marks the 30th anniversary of Law 31\/1995 on Occupational Risk Prevention, a law that profoundly transformed the approach to workplace safety in our country. Furthermore, the Spanish government has designated this year as the Year of Occupational Safety and Health. This double milestone calls for some much-needed reflection: Are we ready to take the next step? <\/p>

Over the past three decades, progress has been undeniable. Occupational safety has evolved from a marginal concept to an integral part of organizational structures. Accident rates have fallen, occupational safety services have become more professional, and there is greater public awareness of the importance of a safe work environment. <\/p>

However, one challenge remains: the final leap from compliance to a culture of compliance.<\/p>

Because, all too often, prevention is still treated as an administrative requirement. Protocols are followed, audits are passed, and documentation is filed away. Everything looks fine on paper, but it\u2019s insufficient in practice. True transformation requires integrating health and safety into daily decision-making, into actual operations, and into the mindset of the entire organization. <\/p>

And this is where technology becomes a decisive factor.<\/p>

The complexity of today’s work environments\u2014characterized by digitalization, mobility, and decentralization\u2014requires tools that go beyond reactive monitoring. We need predictive models, real-time analytics, and systems capable of anticipating risks before they materialize. <\/p>

In this context, solutions such as SAP EHSM, within the SAP ecosystem, are redefining how occupational health and safety is managed. It is no longer just about recording incidents, but about connecting data, processes, and people to generate actionable insights. <\/p>

Integrating prevention into business systems makes it possible, for example, to identify risk patterns, automate regulatory compliance, improve the traceability of preventive actions, and facilitate data-driven decision-making. In other words, it enables a shift from reactive prevention to preventive intelligence. <\/p>

But technology alone is not the solution.<\/p>

Its true value becomes apparent when combined with experience, industry knowledge, and the ability to implement solutions. In this area, companies like i3s are key players, helping organizations deploy advanced solutions and adapt them to their operational realities. <\/p>

Because not all companies face the same risks, have the same processes, or share the same culture. Customization, integration, and support are essential for technology to make a real impact. <\/p>

In addition, workplace risks have evolved. In addition to traditional risks, we now face challenges such as psychosocial risks, digital fatigue, and managing hybrid work environments. All of this calls for a broader, more dynamic, and more connected approach to prevention. <\/p>

The challenge, therefore, is not just technological. It is cultural, organizational, and strategic. <\/p>

The 2026 International Day for Occupational Safety and Health should serve as more than just a commemoration of progress. It should be the starting point for establishing a new model: one in which prevention is embedded in the organization\u2019s DNA, supported by smart technology, and people-centered. <\/p>

Because the future of workplace safety isn’t just about preventing accidents, but about creating sustainable, healthy, and resilient work environments.<\/p>
